Shipra Agrawal, PhD, is a Principal Investigator in the Center for Clinical and Translational Research at The Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Her research interests have both basic and translational components with a committed focus on kidney disease. Dr. Agrawal’s AHA funded research direction is the identification and modulation of PPARg signaling pathways in podocyte biology and glomerular disease to identify novel therapeutic targets. Her research work is also focused on studying RNA-mediated mechanisms such as microRNAs, alternative splicing and polyadenylation in podocyte pathophysiology and glomerular disease. Her additional translational research focus has been on the identification of biomarkers using omics approaches to predict and define steroid resistance in childhood glomerular disease. In addition to Science, she enjoys being outdoors, playing tennis, practicing yoga, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
