David Wessells, PT, MHA, has served as the Program Manager of Sports and Orthopedic Therapies at Nationwide Children's since February 2013. He earned his bachelor's in Exercise Science and Psychology from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in 1997 and Master of Physical Therapy from Northwestern University in 1999. David completed his Master of Healthcare Administration degree from Ohio University in 2018.
David has practiced in varied settings across the country with experience in outpatient orthopedics, neurological rehab, home health, and inpatient settings. He is active in advocacy for the profession serving as Federal Affairs Liaison for the state of Ohio through the American Physical Therapy Association. He is currently the President of the Northwestern University Physical Therapy Alumni Association and serves as faculty for the Leadership and Mangement program (LAMP) through the Health Policy and Administration section of the APTA. David is passionate about supporting his team with resources and removing barriers so they can deliver expert care for the pediatric athlete. He is proud to work for an organization that is a leader in evidence based practice and research to produce the best outcomes for kids in Ohio.
When David is not working, he enjoys spending time with his two daughters, watching sports, traveling or hiking.
