Cheryl E. Gariepy, MD

Cheryl E. Gariepy, MD, is associate division chief for Research of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Nationwide Children's Hospital, and professor of Pediatrics in The Ohio State University College of Medicine. She is also associate director of Research of the Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship, and the vice-chair of the Institutional Review Board for Human Subjects’ Research in the Abigail Wexner Research Institute. Dr. Gariepy’s clinical interests include genetic gastrointestinal disease and disorders of the liver and pancreas. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and her medical degree from Stanford University. She completed clinical training in general pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center/Children's Medical Center of Dallas. She also completed a three-year fellowship in molecular genetics with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. She is an editor of the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition (JPGN), a councilor for the Growth, Development & Child Health section of the American Gastroenterological Institute Council, an investigator in the International Study Group of Pediatric Pancreatitis: In Search of a Cure (INSPPIRE) and a member of the steering committee of the Hirschsprung Disease Research Collaborative. She has published numerous research articles, presented at international meetings and authored several book chapters. Dr. Gariepy is named among the Best Doctors in America.
