Your Pregnancy, Week 30

You've likely heard that while you're pregnant, you're “eating for two.” In some respects, that’s true. But it doesn’t mean that you need to double your portion sizes or eat twice as much.

Instead, think of it this way: the foods you eat are giving essential nutrients to both you and your growing baby.  That's where the "two" comes in. For instance, getting enough calcium will keep you from losing bone density as your baby uses calcium for bone growth. Iron helps build the oxygen-carrying ability of blood that circulates through you and your baby. Eating foods rich in iron and calcium can help meet these needs in pregnancy. Plus, keep taking your daily vitamin!
