Your Pregnancy, Week 18
Exciting things are starting to happen. Do you feel a flutter in your tummy or little bumps and movements? This exciting event is called quickening. It’s the first time you feel your unborn baby moving and turning inside you. This usually occurs between 18 and 20 weeks of pregnancy.
Women who’ve already had children tend to feel movement sooner than first-time moms-to-be.
These faint flutters or ripples in your lower belly start out softly and don’t happen too often. But soon you will feel them more and more as your pregnancy continues. Soon there won’t be any question about when you feel your baby moving! Tell your healthcare provider when quickening occurs. This is a milestone in your pregnancy.
