Strolling Safely with Your Stroller

A stroller can help you stay on the move with a young child. Practice these stroller safety tips:

  1. Always use the seat belt.

  2. Never leave a child alone in a stroller. This is really important if the seats backrest is in the flat position. A child can slip feet-first through a leg opening and become trapped by her head.

  3. When you fold and unfold the stroller, be sure the baby’s hands are away from areas that could pinch tiny fingers.

  4. Do not hang your purse or diaper bag over the handle. This can cause the stroller to tip.

  5. Choose a stroller that has a base wide enough to prevent tipping. Press downward lightly on the handle to be sure.

  6. Make sure the brakes lock the wheels securely. And always use the brakes when the stroller is not in motion.

  7. Pay attention to weight guidelines.
