The Heart Center at Nationwide Children’s Hospital offers outpatient cardiology services for infants, children and adolescents at its Dublin Close To HomeSM Center in Dublin, Ohio.

  • ECG, Echocardiogram and Ambulatory ECG (Holter) services provided as part of the visit
  • Evaluation of murmurs, chest pain, and syncope
  • New patient referrals/consults welcome
  • Follow-up visits for cardiac patients

Meet Our Physicians

Drew E. Ammons, MDPediatric Cardiologist at the Nationwide Children's Heart Center.

Dr. Ammons received his Bachelor of Science and Physics from Vanderbilt University. He completed his pediatrics internship and residency at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He went on to complete his pediatric cardiology fellowship at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Michigan.

Jessica L. Bowman, MD

Jessica L. Bowman, MDPediatric Cardiologist at the Nationwide Children's Heart Center. Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.

Dr. Bowman received her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She completed a pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, then continued her training with completion of a Pediatric Cardiology fellowship at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education in Rochester, MN. Dr. Bowman is board certified in general pediatrics and board eligible in pediatric cardiology.

Vidu Garg, MD, Director of Translational Research, The Heart Center and Center for Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Research, Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Garg completed his pediatric residency at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in 1997 after which he spent five years at University of Texas Southwestern completing his pediatric cardiology training and a post-doctoral research fellowship in cardiac development and cardiovascular genetics. He is board certified in pediatrics.

Katerine M. Mizelle, MD, FAAP

Katherine M. Mizelle, MD, FAAPPediatric Cardiologist at the Nationwide Children's Heart Center. Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.

Dr. Mizelle received her medical degree from University of Virginia. She completed her residency at Madigan Army Medical Center, Washington. After her residency she received fellowship training at Oregon Health Sciences University. She is certified in both Pediatric Cardiology and Pediatrics.

John J. Wheller, MD

John J. Wheller, MDPediatric Cardiologist at the Nationwide Children's Heart Center. Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Obstetrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.

Dr. Wheller received his medical degree from The Ohio State University. After completing his residency at David Grant USAF Medical Center, he received fellowship training from University of California. He is certified in both Pediatric Cardiology and Pediatrics.

We understand that leaving the comforts of home to seek the finest health care for your child can bring with it special stresses. We are here to support you and make this challenging time as comfortable as possible.

Home Monitoring

Available for newborn infants with congenital heart disease who have undergone surgical or catheter therapy, The Heart Center offers a Home Monitoring Program.
