Providing Comprehensive Dental Care To All Children

Dentistry

Our department is committed to providing the best oral health care to improve your child’s overall health. The Department of Dentistry is staffed by board-certified and board-eligible pediatric dentists to help provide the most up-to-date and contemporary care for your child.

When your child needs a hospital, Everything Matters®.

Our pediatric dentists and specialists provide comprehensive preventive and therapeutic oral health care for infants and children, including those with special health care needs.

We treat all children up to 18 years of age and provide a full range of oral health care, including examinations, cleanings, fillings, crowns and extractions. We also offer dental treatment in the operating room, as well as for children who need oral sedation. For procedures outside of our scope of practice, we help to coordinate referrals to other services and specialties.

Dental Clinic

Our dental clinic provides comprehensive dental care to children up to 18 years of age. This is where we provide exams, cleanings, x-rays, fillings, crowns, extractions, and some limited specialty services such as endodontics, orthodontics, and oral pathology. All of our treatment rooms are equipped with nitrous oxide. Most treatment is provided by pediatric dental residents, who are licensed general dentists gaining advanced training under the supervision of pediatric dentists or other specialists. Comprehensive dental care is also provided by pediatric and general dentists.

In our evening and Saturday clinics, we treat only children above the age of 8 without underlying medical or behavioral health conditions, and care is provided by either general dentists, pediatric dentists, or general dentists completing a pediatric dental residency.

Dental Emergencies

If you think your child has a dental emergency, we strongly encourage you to call the dental triage line (614-722-5650, option 2) so we can minimize the time you have to wait in the clinic.

We see patients for walk-in emergencies for the following conditions:

  • Facial swelling
  • Severe pain
  • Recent tooth injury

If you walk in for a condition that is not an emergency (i.e. loose baby tooth, needs a cleaning); your child will not be treated and will be scheduled for another day.

Walk-in Hours for Dental Emergencies

  • Monday – Thursday: 9 - 10:30 a.m. and 1 - 2:30 p.m.
  • Friday: 8 - 10:30 a.m. and 1 - 2 p.m.

There are limited providers for dental emergencies, and within these hours, the clinic may not be able to accommodate every patient that walks in if too many patients have checked in already.  You may have to return on another day.
