Biography
Amer Rajab, MD, PhD, is the Surgical Director of pediatric transplantation and member of the Department of Pediatric Surgery at Nationwide Children's Hospital and an Associate Professor of Surgery at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and a member of the Division of Transplantation Surgery. He is the Director of the Pancreas and Islet Transplantation Program with a research interest in islet transplantation for the treatment of diabetes. Dr. Rajab has established an FDA-approved IND to perform islet transplantation at The Ohio State University and plans are underway for the first procedure. Dr. Rajab and Dr. Ronald Pelletier have established a laparoscopic technique for the living donor kidney program. To date, more than one thousand donor operations have been successfully performed by them using this minimally invasive technique.
