Allergy Immunology Fellowship

Allergy Immunology Fellowship

The Allergy Immunology Fellowship is a two-year fellowship open to candidates who have already completed their internal medicine or pediatrics training.

Welcome to the Nationwide Children’s Hospital web page for the Nationwide Children's Hospital and The Ohio State University joint Allergy Immunology Fellowship.  Thank you for your interest in Allergy and Immunology, and we hope this site provides answers to your questions about our fellowship.

The goal of our fellowship is to provide a well rounded academic experience which incorporates all aspects of the ACGME competencies. The fellowship will encompass scientific knowledge, a full range of clinical care of patients of all ages, and exposure to research skills and experience.  We want to provide  experience with communication skills across the full breadth of the medical and scientific experience, in order to nurture empathy with our patients.

What You Need to Know

Fellowship Overview

The Allergy Immunology Fellowship is a 2 year fellowship that is open to candidates who have already completed their internal medicine or pediatrics training.  Each candidate must spend 50% of his/her time in clinical pursuits, 25% in research and 25% in other didactic areas.  The fellow’s first year will be focused on clinical pursuits, while the second year will provide more research time.  The goal of our training is to create academic allergists that are capable of providing care and education in a variety of settings.

One of the strengths of this program is our diversity of population and staff.  It is expected that each candidate will have approximately half of their clinical experience with pediatric patients and half with adult patients.  The staff is nearly equally divided between those who were originally trained in internal medicine, pediatrics and combined internal medicine and pediatrics.

The ACGME Program Requirements for the Allergy Immunology Fellowship are available online at www.acgme.org.
