Williams Syndrome Clinic :: Nationwide Children's Hospital

Williams Syndrome Clinic

The Williams Syndrome Clinic is a collaboration of providers from Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Ohio State University (OSU) Nisonger Center. This family-centered clinic provides diagnostic, treatment and support services to children and adolescents with Williams syndrome and their families.

The developmental and behavioral approach to care is provided by a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary team that includes the following providers:

  • Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician
  • Psychologist
  • Speech Pathologist
  • Occupational Therapist
  • Physical Therapist
  • Nurse
  • Social Worker

Our Services

Services may include a comprehensive evaluation with special attention to the unique medical, developmental and behavioral problems experienced by children with Williams syndrome. Referrals to other specialty medical and therapeutic services, as well as a laboratory and radiologic assessments, are arranged as necessary.

Families will be linked with medical, educational, social and financial support in their communities as indicated, and resources are identified to assist them in meeting the unique needs of their child. A working relationship will be maintained with the child’s primary care physician.

Services are covered by most insurance providers. To expedite insurance coverage, we recommend a referral be sent to the clinic by the patient’s primary care physician. It is also recommended that the family contact their insurance company prior to visiting the clinic, as care is provided by clinicians from both Nationwide Children’s Hospital and OSU Nisonger Center.

"The Williams Syndrome Clinic at Nationwide Children’s provides an invaluable resource to us as the parents of an eight year old daughter with Williams Syndrome. While our daughter receives various private therapies and sees her pediatrician on a regular basis, having a team of professionals at Nationwide Children’s to rely upon who have a wealth of experience in dealing with the many complexities of Williams Syndrome has been tremendously helpful. We always come away from our visits to the Clinic with information that is beneficial to the continued well-being and development of our daughter."
