The Heart Center is the first center in Ohio to pilot and use a mobile app for improving communication to families of patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgeries and interventional catheterization procedures. This HIPPA compliant software platform for educating and updating families on patients’ status undergoing medical procedures has enabled us to increase communication with families whose children are undergoing cardiothoracic surgery. Since piloting the app, we have achieved 100 percent compliance with updates to the family at least every two hours using the app.
Families who consent to receive updates through the app also receive in-person updates throughout the case.
