Sue Hammond, MD, is Chief of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Section Chief for Clinical Pathology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and a Clinical Professor in the Department of Pathology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. She is board certified in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology and Pediatric Pathology. Her clinical interests include pediatric malignancies, pediatric clinical laboratory testing, pediatric GI pathology and second malignant neoplasms. She is the review pathologist for the Childhood Cancer Survivor Study based at the St. Jude Cancer Research Hospital. This is a National Institute of Health (NIH) funded cohort study of 14,000 survivors of childhood cancer. Almost 2000 participants have been identified with secondary malignancies. Dr. Hammond is a co-investigator with Dr. Gail Besner on the role of NO and endothelin in human NEC (NIH-funded). She is an alternate reviewer for CHTN and COG soft tissue sarcomas. Hospital and medical staff committees include the Medical Leadership Development Committee and the Hospital Quality and Performance Improvement Committee. She has been a member of the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Medical Staff since 1992.
