  • Support the hospital’s mission as an academic medical center

Key accomplishments from 2004-2009 include:

  • Increased NIH funding by 75 percent over an interval of flat NIH funding
  • Recruited world-class talent in research and clinical care
  • Created an integrated electronic medical record for Nationwide Children’s
  • Achieved Joint Commission and Magnet re-accreditation
  • Embarked on an extensive facility expansion program
  • Maintained financial stability

In the spring of 2009, Nationwide Children’s began its 2010-2014 strategic planning process.  This planning process took into consideration:

  • How best to build on previous successes
  • The changing healthcare environment
  • The current economic landscape
  • The potential for healthcare policy reform

Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s 2010-2014 strategic plan was approved by the Board of Directors and launched to employees in the fall of 2009.  The plan has an aspiration of creating optimal health for every child in our community.
