Dr. Mathis is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with extensive fellowship training in sports medicine. Dr. Mathis attended medical school at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Athens, Ohio. Dr. Mathis completed his Internship at Doctor’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He completed his residency at Memorial Hospital in York, Pennsylvania. Dr. Mathis completed an Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Borchers joined The Ohio State University Sports Medicine staff in 2004 and the Nationwide Children's Sports Medicine Fellowship faculty in 2013. He completed medical school at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM) in 2000 followed by a residency in Family Medicine at The Toledo Hospital from 2000 - 2003. He also completed a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine in 2004 at The Toledo Hospital.Dr. Borchers is a team physician for the football program at The Ohio State University as well as the women’s field hockey, men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s soccer, softball and men’s and women’s tennis teams. His clinical interests include medical issues in the athlete, musculoskeletal sports injuries, and the management of osteoarthritis in active individuals.
