The Play Strong Program is part of the Sports Medicine department at Nationwide Children's Hospital. This 8-week physical activity intervention is designed for patients in need of behavior change related to physical activity habits. These children and adolescents, ages 11-18 years old, may be living with or recovering from chronic conditions such as cancer, diabetes, arthritis and heart disease or simply struggle with weight.
We are looking for interns with an interest in lifestyle interventions, specifically in the areas of physical activity, reconditioning and weight management. As a Play Strong Administrative intern, you would be responsible for approximately 12 hours of weekly service to the program and would be involved with program development, administrative projects and the behind the scenes of running the program smoothly. There is very little, if any, patient interaction in this internship. Interns will assist in administrative tasks devoted to the expansion of Play Strong throughout Nationwide Children’s Hospital and creating/maintaining relationships with community partners. Additionally, interns will have the opportunity to participate in research and program design. This internship is offered year round based on the academic calendar. The hours are fairly flexible and can work around student schedules. Graduate students and students graduating during the current semester are preferred and all candidates must have an interest in a health care.
All posted deadlines are flexible as we will continue to accept applications until a qualified candidate is secured. Please contact the Play Strong team (PlayStrongIntern@NationwideChildrens.org) with any questions.
