Eligibility Requirements

Candidates are required to have completed an accredited medical school, internship and be eligible for a US State license to practice medicine and surgery, they must also have completed a residency program in Ophthalmology, and be Ophthalmology board eligible before starting fellowship. The fellow must reside in the greater Columbus area during their year of fellowship. 

Application and Interview Process

The Nationwide Children's Hospital Pediatric Ophthalmology fellowship participates in the National Subspecialty Matching Program in Ophthalmology. Please register with the matching program. After receiving your application materials you will be contacted regarding a visit to Columbus for a tour and interviews with the departmental staff. The application deadline is November 15th.

  • Letter of Reference - We request three (3) ORIGINAL letters of reference (one being from the chief of department).
  • Personal Statement - Please send a brief 1 page statement discussing your career goals and future plans, how you developed your interests in this field, why you are a strong candidate for our program.
  • Curriculum Vitae - Include your current address, contact information, education history, honors and awards (academic and non-academic), outside interests and hobbies, past and present employment, research activities and papers, and public service.
