Pedal-with-Pete Foundation Donates $28,000 to Nationwide Children’s Hospital for Cerebral Palsy Research

Columbus, OH - 3/11/2011

In August 2010, the Pedal-with-Pete Foundation hosted its annual Ride for Pete’s Sake Bike Ride to raise awareness for Cerebral Palsy. With more than 630 riders, attendees raised more than $40,000 for Cerebral Palsy research. More than $28,000 of the funds was directed to research efforts at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

“The funds helped fund an initiative in Nationwide Children’s Cerebral Palsy Clinic to develop evidence-based clinical care guidelines that reflect the best known treatments for Cerebral Palsy,” said Amy Newmeyer, MD, director of the Comprehensive Cerebral Palsy Program at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. “The ‘Learn From Every Patient at Every Visit’ initiative will allow health care personnel in our clinic to follow their patients over time where the clinical medical record is being utilized to transform data management and analysis.”

The Pedal-with-Pete Foundation is a philanthropic organization dedicated to raising funds for research to improve the quality of life for persons with cerebral palsy. Founder, Pete Zeidner, has a personal connection with those who suffer from cerebral palsy as he was diagnosed with the disease years ago. Pete started this organization after a successful bike ride around Ohio in 1991.
