Officials at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital (OLBH) have announced a partnership with the Heart Center at Columbus Children’s Hospital (Ohio). The center is now providing outpatient pediatric cardiology services at OLBH.
“The Heart Center at Columbus Children’s Hospital is internationally recognized for its expertise as a diagnostic, treatment and research facility,” OLBH pediatrician Cheryl Cook, M.D., said. “To have physicians from the Heart Center evaluating pediatric patients on the campus of OLBH is an exciting development and a wonderful opportunity the hospital has offered the community.”
Pediatric patients (ages six months or older) are evaluated at the OLBH Same Day Surgery Center, Suite 280, by pediatric cardiologists from Columbus Children’s Hospital. Patients will be evaluated for congenital heart disease and acquired heart disease (such as those conditions which result from Rheumatic Heart Disease and Kawasaki Disease) and subsequent cardiac follow-up will be provided at OLBH.
Services available as a result of the new partnership include:
-new patient screening for infants, children, and adolescents
-ECG (electrocardiograms) and ECHO (echocardiograms)
-heart murmur evaluation
-chest pain and syncope (fainting) evaluation
-cardiology evaluation for school sports participation
-follow-up visits for cardiac patients
Physicians may make appointments for their patients by calling the Columbus Children’s Heart Center at (614) 722-2555 and requesting OLBH as a location. For more information, call the OLBH CareLine at (606) 833-CARE (2273).
