Nationwide Children’s Hospital ranked second in the recently-announced Business First’s 2008 Best Places to Work survey in the large company category.
The Best Places to Work Program has been implemented in essentially all 41 American City Business Journals’ markets (Business First’s parent company). More than 140 nominations were received for the 2008 program in Central Ohio. Any company or organization with a Central Ohio office and at least 10 full-time employees may participate in this program and only Central Ohio full time employees are surveyed.
Quantum Market Research (QMR) is the market research firm specializing in measuring workplace satisfaction that was used to facilitate The Best Places to Work survey process. With the assistance of QMR, employees are asked approximately 30 questions about their work environments concerning:
• Team Effectiveness
• Trust in Coworkers and Senior Leaders
• Individual Contribution
• Manager Effectiveness
• Work Engagement
• People Practices
After QMR tallies the surveys, they send Business First a list of the top 10 companies in each of the company size categories. They categorize a “large” company as one having more than 500 local employees, a “medium” company has 100 to 499 local employees, the “small” companies have between 25 and 99 employees, and the “micro” companies have between 10 and 24 employees.
“Our fourth annual Best Places to Work celebration highlighted some wonderful Central Ohio companies,” said Don DePerro, publisher and president, Columbus Business First. “We again grew our number of participating companies, which made the awards celebration that much more competitive. These companies help form the backbone of Central Ohio’s business community and help make greater Columbus a wonderful place to live, work and have fun!”
