The Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP) has renewed Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s full accreditation as an organization that demonstrates and emphasizes clinical study participant safeguards that surpass state and federal requirements.
AAHRPP is a non-profit organization working with hospitals and research centers to ensure the highest level of protection for clinical research participants. Through the rigorous accreditation process, organizations must demonstrate that they have built extensive safeguards into every level of their research and that they adhere to the highest standards for research.
AAHRPP’s standards exceed federal regulations by requiring organizations to address conflict of interest, to provide community outreach and education and to apply the same stringent protections to all research involving human participants.
Nationwide Children’s received its first AAHRPP accreditation in 2009. AAHRPP now reviews accreditation every five years, with Nationwide Children’s next review in 2017.
