Hundreds of runners will take to the streets in the Arena District for the Fifth Annual Merrill Lynch Bull Run on Saturday, August 16. Registration begins promptly at 7:30 a.m. with the Kids Fun Run slated for an 8:30 a.m. start and the 5K Run/Walk beginning at 9 a.m.
In addition to the run/walk, fun for the entire family and educational programs such as COSI on Wheels’ Launch into Space and The Columbus Museum of Art’s Museum on the Move! will be on site. Additional activities including inflatable jumpers, music, magicians, balloon animal twisters and local mascots will also be in attendance. These activities are sponsored by the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) with food provided by Dairy Queen and Tim Horton’s.
The event, hosted by the Merrill Lynch Buckeye Complex in conjunction with this year’s presenting sponsor Legg Mason, is expected to raise thousands of dollars for local charities. Since its inception, the Bull Run has raised more than $190,000 with a portion of the proceeds designated to support pediatric cancer research at Nationwide Children’s Hospital via one of the hospital’s auxiliary groups, Circle of Friends.
The Bull Run will also benefit the Ocean Room – a free “toy store” at Nationwide Children’s Hospital where young surgery patients may pick out a toy before their operation. The Bull Run has committed to support the Ocean Room – which gives away nearly 5,000 toys annually – for the next five years.
To register on-line, visit www.mlbullrun.com. Registration fees are $25 for adults and $15 for children 12-years-old and younger. After August 9, registration fees are $30 for adults and $20 for children.
