The fourth-annual Merrill Lynch Bull Run 5K Run/Walk is set to trounce the streets of Columbus on Saturday, August 11 with registration beginning at 8 a.m. in downtown’s Arena District. Activities begin at 8:30 a.m. with the Kid’s Fun Run, followed by the 5K Run/Walk at 9 a.m. – a 3.1 mile-certified 2 loop course throughout downtown.
During the event, appearances will be made by Columbus Zoo’s traveling animals and Columbus firefighters. Music, food and assorted children’s activities from the Columbus Museum of Art will also be available.
Since its inception, the Merrill Lynch Bull Run has raised over $132,000, with proceeds going to pediatric cancer research at Columbus Children’s Hospital and other charitable organizations.
This year, a portion of the proceeds from the Bull Run will also benefit the new Ocean Room at Children’s Hospital. The Ocean Room, a free “toy store,” was created and carried out by a group of sixth-graders from Columbus Academy. The Ocean Room is a place where young surgery patients can pick out a toy to cuddle with post-surgery.
To register on-line, visit www.mlbullrun.com. Registration fees are $25 for adults before August 3 and $30 after August 3. Registration for children 12-years-old and younger is $15. Fee includes a souvenir long-sleeve t-shirt.
