Desale Yacob, MD, Named Medical Director for the Motility Center at Nationwide Children's Hospital

Desale Yacob, MD, attending pediatric gastroenterologist at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, has recently been named medical director for the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition’s Motility Center at Nationwide Children’s.

As medical director of the Motility Center, he leads a multi-faceted team of pediatric specialists, surgeons, and other professionals. Collectively, the team diagnoses and provides therapeutic interventions for children and young adults from across the country and abroad affected by severe gastrointestinal motility problems. Dr. Yacob’s research interest is in the area of functional neurogastrointestinal and motility disorders. He is also a member of the Center for Colorectal and Pelvic Reconstruction at Nationwide Children’s. He is named among the “Best Doctors in America.”

Dr. Yacob, an assistant professor of Clinical Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, is also very active in medical student and resident education. He attended the University of Virginia for both his undergraduate and medical education. After completing his pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters in Norfolk Virginia he came to Columbus, where he completed his pediatric gastroenterology fellowship at Nationwide Children’s. His clinical interests span all areas of pediatric gastroenterology including motility and functional gastrointestinal disorders.
