Columbus Children’s Research Institute Selects Rescentris for Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) Software

CCRI Chooses Rescentris’ Award-Winning Software Product, CERF

COLUMBUS, OH - 4/27/2007

Rescentris, the leading provider of electronic lab notebook (ELN) software for the life sciences industry, today announced that Columbus Children’s Research Institute (CCRI) has selected its award-winning Collaborative Electronic Research FrameworkTM (CERF) solution for their electronic lab notebook.

Electronic lab notebook software is a burgeoning new technology, and selecting the right ELN for the institution was a critical decision for Columbus Children Research Institute.    A team, comprised of executive management, researchers, lab staff and IT support, at CCRI sought to identify an industry leader of an ELN solution that could provide its principal investigators and laboratory scientists with versatility, ease of use, and the flexibility to work with a variety of different types of scientific data and workflows. Collaboration and the ability to share knowledge are critical objectives of research projects according to Mary France, Director of Research Information Services.   Being prepared to facilitate collaboration and innovation in a growing, fast-paced environment is a strategic imperative.

“Not only were we looking at an integrated technology solution that is new to research institutions worldwide, we were seeking a company that could partner with us and provide a solution uniquely suited to our environment,” said France.  “We have over 111 principal investigators and more than 700 employees, most of whom need access and the ability to collaborate on projects.  After a thorough review of the industry and a pilot project with the software vendor we finally chose Rescentris and CERF because of their robust technology and because they understand the importance of collaboration – not only within CCRI, but throughout the external research community.”

“In the world of life sciences, ELNs now play an invaluable role,” said Dr. Adel Mikhail, CEO of Rescentris.  “With an enterprise deployment of CERF ELN, CCRI continues their innovative history.  We believe they are the first institution of their kind to embrace using an ELN.  This underscores their commitment to making the research process faster and more efficient.”

Mary France will be on hand at the 2007 Bio-IT World Expo Exhibit Hall at the World Trade Center in Boston, Massachusetts, to talk about CCRI’s experience with the selection of Rescentris and CERF.  Her presentation, “Collaboration as the Driving Force for Selecting an ELN," begins at 9:30 am on May 2nd, at the Exhibit Hall Theatre.
