“An Evening With Bruce Hornsby” at Digger & Finch Grille & Pub in Dublin will benefit the Memorial Tournament Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Columbus Children’s Hospital. The intimate concert, with complimentary food and beverages, will be held Friday, May 18, 2007, with doors opening at 6pm.
Three-time Grammy Award winner Hornsby will take the stage at 8pm and entertain the crowd with his songs from the last 25 years including Valley Road, The Way It Is, Barcelona Mona and many from his latest album Halcyon Days where Bruce collaborated with many of music industry’s biggest stars such as Eric Clapton, Sting and Elton John. Post-concert entertainment will begin at 9:30pm and conclude at 11pm.
Jack Nicklaus II and Kim Currie are serving as honorary co-chairs of the benefit concert.
"Kim and I are both proud and excited to be the honorary chairs of the benefit concert,” Nicklaus said. “The charitable tie to the Memorial Tournament NICU is very important to us; Children's Hospital is an exceptional organization and has been a great friend of the Memorial's for 32 years. The benefit concert will provide a perfect night for the Central Ohio community to kick off the Memorial Tournament and, at the same time, support a great cause."
In May of 2005, the Memorial Tournament announced a multi-year pledge with Columbus Children’s Hospital, extending a successful 30-year partnership with the hospital as the Tournament’s primary charitable beneficiary. Since 1976, the Memorial Tournament has raised more than $5.7 million to support the programs and services at Children’s Hospital. In recognition of the Memorial’s pledge, which will elevate the level of giving to more than $11 million in the coming years, Columbus Children’s dedicated its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in honor of the Tournament.
Stephen Welty, MD, chief of Neonatology at Columbus Children’s Hospital, is grateful to The Memorial Tournament for its support. “We could not do what we do without philanthropic support,” said Welty. “The Memorial Tournament is making a difference in our ability to provide excellent care to the sickest babies and to offer hope for a bright future.”
Patron admission for the benefit concert is $225 per person or $450 per couple.
