Sports Medicine Athletic Trainers
Michael Macatangay joined Nationwide Children's Hospital's Sports Medicine Program as a certified and licensed athletic trainer in 2013. Prior to joining Nationwide Children's, Mike served as an assistant athletics trainer at The University of Akron, and was responsible for providing health and injury care to the Zips' men's basketball and baseball programs. Before joining the University of Akron sports medicine department, Mike worked as a clinical athletic trainer at the PT Center for Family and Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine in Akron. While working there, he also served as the athletic trainer for football and basketball with local high schools in the area. Prior to his time at the clinic he was a graduate assistant athletics trainer at University of Akron, working closely with the football team. Mike is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, Ohio Athletic Trainers Association and is also a board member for the Boston Sports Medicine Performance Group "Everything Basketball". He earned a bachelors degree in education, with a specialization in athletic training and sports medicine, from Akron in 2004, and a masters in education, with a specialization in exercise physiology, from Akron in 2005.
