Sending Potentially Contagious Patients for Testing

(From the July 2014 Issue of MedStat)

When sending your patient in for follow-up testing (lab, x-rays, EKG, etc.) for a potentially contagious disease like pertussis, please note "airborne precaution" on the script. By noting “airborne precaution” the testing facility will be prepared to isolate the patient and offer them a mask to protect the other patients in the waiting area. Thank you for your assistance.
