Sara Koenig, Graduate Student in Garg Lab, Recognized for Outstanding Research

Sara Koenig, Garg LabSara Koenig, a graduate student in the Garg Lab in the Center for Cardiovascular Research at The Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital, received the Outstanding Research Award by an Early Career Investigator from the Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology (ATVB) Council at the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions in Orlando, Florida.

She received this award specifically for her abstract entitled "Loss of Notch1 in the Secondary Heart Field Exacerbates Ascending Aortic Aneurysms and Causes Aortic Rupture in Marfan Syndrome Mice," which was also recognized at the American Heart Association (AHA) Best of Basic Science Session at the meeting.

In addition, Sara received a Travel Award for Young Investigators from the ATVB Council, and her research was highlighted in the AHA Scientific Sessions Daily News on Monday, November 9, 2015.
