Keith Yeates, PhD, and the Child Biobehavioral Outcomes Core are collaborating with Aymen Patel, MD, to investigate whether the surgical stress response in neonates and infants can be modulated or reduced through different doses or combinations of anesthesia and analgesic drugs. The core is assessing neurodevelopmental outcomes in these patients to provide information about the possible risks involved with these anesthetic techniques.
The Child Biobehavioral Outcomes Core currently works on ten studies at Nationwide Children’s, providing neurodevelopmental/cognitive testing. The core also provides assistance selecting appropriate biobehavioral outcome measures and preparing grant submissions that include such measures.
