Dr. Ihuoma Eneli, director of the Center for Healthy Weight and Nutrition, is leading an initiative to establish the framework to apply for a National Institutes of Health/Nutrition Obesity Research Collaborative grant. The goal is to build, over the next three to five years, a strong portfolio of obesity-related research projects and publications to demonstrate the viability of a Nutrition Obesity Research Collaborative housed at The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Dr. Eneli is working in collaboration with The Ohio State University’s Food Innovation Center.
Dr. Eneli is inviting researchers with an interest in obesity to contact her to learn more about participating in the initiative and also to complete a brief survey tool through the link below. The survey will identify the core areas of research being performed at The Research Institute, which further the understanding of obesity. The survey will remain open until November 30, 2012. A $25,000 grant awarded to Dr. Eneli in September by the CSX Transportation Company will provide funding for 12 months to establish the infrastructure. The goal is to build a sustainable national childhood and adult obesity research program model. The CSX grant will support a project coordinator and the development of protocols, data collection and database modeling and reporting. A member of the Center for Healthy Weight and Nutrition team will be following up directly with those participating in the survey.
