Research Now: Exome Sequencing to Analyze Individuals with Congenital Heart Defects

Kim McBride, MD, MS, and his lab are embarking on a large team project with Vidu Garg, MD, both principal investigators in the Center for Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Research. Together they will work with Peter White, PhD, director of the Biomedical Genomics Core, to perform whole exome sequencing in a cohort of individuals with congenital heart defects. Roughly 250 exomes will be analyzed to identify susceptibility genes that cause these defects.
