Research Now: Study to Test Effectiveness of Intervention Treatment for Teens At-Risk for Suicide

Jeff Bridge, PhD, principal investigator in the Center for Innovation and Pediatric Practice and his lab will begin work on the Suicidal Teens Accessing Treatment after an Emergency Department Visit (STAT-ED) study. The aim of this study is to test the effectiveness of a brief treatment engagement intervention for adolescents seeking treatment in the ED for non-psychiatric concerns but identified via systematic screening as being at risk for suicide. Nationwide Children’s will be working in conjunction with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and will plan to enroll a total of 160 participants. All participants will receive two- and six-month follow-up calls in order to ascertain mental health treatment engagement and repeat the baseline assessments.
