Sharon Dooley, RN, BSN, MA, CEN has been appointed as the new co-medical director for Patient Safety. She will partner with Dr. Mike Brady who is also co-medical director for Patient Safety. In 2014, Sharon came from Memorial Hospital of Union County where she was director of clinical support services. Prior to that, Sharon was director of Nursing, Integrated and Emergency Services at the Cleveland Clinic Health System. At Nationwide Children’s she has served as director of Clinical Support Services and has been incredibly effective in that role, working with the vascular access team and hospital epidemiology to focus and ramp up our work associated with catheter associated blood stream infections.

Joanna Kramer, DO, MPH, third year resident in the Dual Pediatric Residency Program at Nationwide Children's Hospital and Doctors Hospital, recently received the 2015 American Osteopathic Foundation (AOF) Outstanding Resident of the Year Award. According to the AOF, the award recognizes osteopathic residents whose combination of clinical promise, leadership, ability to think outside the box and commitment to their patients and the osteopathic profession separate them from others. The award is presented in partnership with the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians. This year, five residents were recognized in emergency, internal, pediatric, obstetrics and gynecological and family medicine. Dr. Kramer will be honored on October 16 at the AOF’s Honors 2015. With an interest in academic pediatrics, Dr. Kramer will continue at Nationwide Children’s as Chief Resident next year.
