Primary Care Matters

(From the March 2017 Issue of MedStat)

Written by Drs. Bill Long, Bruce Meyer and Rob Snyder

Welcome to Primary Care Matters, a monthly installment in MedStat. The articles in this ongoing series will feature news and items of interest to pediatric primary care providers (PCPs).

But, we expect this to be more than a “read only” supplement for you. We would like you to actively participate and share your experiences in practice with your colleagues. Simply put, we would like for all central Ohio pediatric PCPs to have a hand in authoring this series.

Among the three of us, we have more than 50 years of primary care pediatric experience, but we want to learn more about your experiences, successes and challenges.

Here are examples of just some of the topics we plan to cover in the upcoming year:

  • Early morning walk-in hours: lessons learned
  • The EHR: a help or a hindrance in patient interaction?
  • Doing “courtesy rounds” on hospitalized patients
  • Newborn medicine: a “lost art” for PCP’s?
  • Incorporating behavioral health in primary care pediatrics

Please help us by contributing your thoughts to more articles and sharing your practice experience. You can write an article if you have an interest, or if you just want to talk with us and share, we can write the article with your input.

Thanks in advance for participating in this new forum. We hope you will find it useful!
