Of Note: Resident in Besner Lab Honored at AAP National Conference

General Surgery Resident Dr. Mika Matthews was recognized during the American Academy of Pediatrics National Conference and Exhibition for the talk she gave at the October meeting.  Her award-winning talk was titled “HB-EGF Protects the Intestines from Radiation Therapy-Induced Intestinal Injury.”  Dr. Matthews, who hails from The Ohio State University, is completing a second year of research training in Dr. Gail Besner’s laboratory in the Center for Perinatal Research.
