October Employee of the Month
Physical Medicine Clinic
Beth has been a member of the Physical Medicine Clinic at Nationwide Children’s for more than six years. She is actively engaged in the betterment of the clinic, taking part in all discussions regarding the quality of care and performance issues within her department. As a safety coach she considers safety in all aspects of her work. Beth started a clinic-based safety practice called ‘safety fizzles’ where each morning before clinics begin, any potential safety issues for the day are reviewed. Beth works well with all co-workers and is always professional and respectful in her interaction and communication with patients and families.
October Volunteer of the Month
More than 500 hours of service
Congratulations to Bill Connor on his selection as the October Volunteer of the Month. Bill began volunteering in the Sibling Clubhouse in May 2011 and has also been volunteering in Dialysis since January 2012, donating more than 500 hours of his time. After practicing as a social worker for more than 30 years, Bill retired. Although his paycheck stopped, his desire to help children did not. Mary Myers, Clubhouse, recalls a 4-year-old sibling and her parents looking for her just to thank Bill for being so wonderful. The little girl wanted Mary to tell him goodbye and let him know that she hoped she would be back to play with him in the Clubhouse again. Her parents said they had never encountered a volunteer as caring and fun as Bill. Bill is a gift to Nationwide Children’s Hospital because of his happy nature and calm demeanor when working with staff and the children.
