Nationwide Children’s is the First Pediatric Hospital in Ohio to Offer Electronic Prescription of Controlled Substances

Nationwide Children’s is improving the prescriber, patient and family experience, by being the first children’s hospital in Ohio to allow our prescribers to electronically send controlled substance prescriptions to the pharmacy. Previously, any controlled substance prescription had to be printed on special paper and hand signed by the prescriber. Common controlled substances prescribed include stimulant medications for ADHD, some seizure medications and narcotics for pain control. From a patient and family perspective, this required picking up the prescription from the prescriber in person and hand delivering it to their chosen pharmacy. By providing all prescriptions electronically, all families will be able to receive the same level of customer service. For more information, please contact Information Services Support Center at NCHSupportCenter@NationwideChildrens.org.
