Nationwide Children’s Once Again Named to Honor Roll List of U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals
Nationwide Children’s Hospital has once again been named to U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospital Honor Roll, moving up to #7. This top distinction is awarded to only ten children’s hospitals with the most exceptional performance across the rankings. In addition to the 2017-18 Honor Roll distinction, Nationwide Children’s has now been recognized in all 10 specialties for seven consecutive years. For more information, visit

Ground Breaks on Big Lots Behavioral Health Pavilion
On June 16, Nationwide Children’s Hospital celebrated the groundbreaking of the Big Lots Behavioral Health Pavilion, a freestanding facility fully dedicated to children and adolescents with behavioral health conditions. Thanks to a $50 million gift from Big Lots and Big Lots Foundation, it will be the largest behavioral health treatment and research center dedicated to children and adolescents on a pediatric medical campus in the U.S. The approximately 386,000 sq. ft. building is slated to open in 2020. Ohio PREP Initiative 
The Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) is a statewide initiative designed to reduce teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infection rates for Ohio youth 14-19 years of age residing in foster care and juvenile justice system. PREP uses a train-the-trainer model to teach this evidenced-based curriculum.  Nationwide Children’s Hospital is the only hospital in Ohio funded to implement PREP. The Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs at Ohio University completed PREP’s final evaluation from 2013-2016. Download (PDF) the full report.

Children’s Imaging Biomarker Alliance (CIBA) at Nationwide Children’s Department of Radiology
The Department of Pediatric Radiology Nationwide Children’s recently launched the Children’s Imaging Biomarker Alliance (CIBA), which has the following goals:

  • Develop and validate imaging biomarkers specific to pediatric disease
  • Determine quality, safety and cost-effectiveness of validated biomarkers
  • Integrate imaging biomarkers across the basic/translational /clinical spectrum
  • Integrate pediatric imaging innovation efforts across departments and populations.

Treat the whole patient by connecting families to community resources that fit their needs. The Children’s Advocacy Project (CAP4Kids) website,, is a one-stop source for children and family resources. CAP4Kids has information on everything from afterschool programs and housing, to food and mental health resources, to services for kids with special needs and more. Did you know groups of our clinical staff wear uniform pants in certain colors to help identify their role?

  • Registered nurses wear marine blue pants
  • Respiratory therapists wear dark grey pants
  • Unit coordinators wear purple pants
  • Licensed practical nurses wear cranberry pants
  • Patient care assistants wear green pants

Dublin Urgent Care Update
Dublin Urgent Care is temporarily closed but will re-open on Wednesday, August 2. Urgent Care services are still available at the Hilliard, Marysville, Canal Winchester, East Columbus (East Broad), Westerville and main campus locations.
