March Employee of the Month
Family and Volunteer Services
Jennifer understands that families are the number one priority at Nationwide Children’s. Jennifer greets everyone that enters the Family Resource Center (FRC) with focused attention and a true desire to offer assistance. Jennifer thoughtfully engages with families and patients to assess and respond to their needs and concerns and is accommodating of others with different backgrounds. For example, Jennifer supportively assists Amish families with their laundry and using equipment in the FRC that they aren’t familiar with. Jennifer is one of the first to promote resources in languages that support the diverse needs of families supported within the FRC. She is confident in her ability to assess and evaluate when families need assistance by connecting families to appropriate services including social work, patient relations, and pastoral care. A FRC parent shared, “Over the past several years, Jennifer has been our family’s savior. She has been the person I could count on to find the answer to my question or find the person who could answer my question. She is resourceful and knowledgeable about things like services in the community or parent support groups.”
March Volunteer of the Month
275 hours of service
Congratulations to Debbie Moorehead on her selection as the March Volunteer of the Month. Debbie has been volunteering on the Art Cart since February 2010 and has more than 275 service hours. Debbie goes above and beyond to make copies of activity pages, sharpen pencils and stock the cart with any needed supplies. As the hospital transitioned to the new building Debbie made sure art cart items were maintained and available to the dialysis population which often has limited child life support. “Debbie is attentive a self-starter,” says Arleen Tripp, a child life specialist. “Through her years volunteering at Nationwide Children's, Debbie has always been very consistent and reliable,” adds Tripp.
