Laurel A. Slaughter, MD Joins the Section of Neurology

 Dr. Slaughter is an attending neurologist in the Section of Neurology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and As­sistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, Division of Child Neurology, at The Ohio State University College of Medi­cine. She is board-eligible for certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with special qualifi­cation in child neurology. She has clinical and research interests in general child neurology and neonatal neurol­ogy, particularly in neonatal seizures, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, perinatal stroke, and metabolic disorders presenting in the newborn. Her clinical focus at Nation­wide Children’s is neonatal neurology, both as a consul­tant in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and in outpatient clinical follow-up. Topics of recent publication include glucose-transporter deficiency disorder and neonatal tem­poral lobe hemorrhagic venous infarcts. Originally from Wisconsin, she joined the faculty at Nationwide Chil­dren’s in August 2009 after completing her child neurol­ogy residency in Cincinnati, Ohio.
