The Opus Foundation recently awarded a $45,000 grant to Nationwide Children’s Hospital Foundation to provide support for the hospital’s Reach Out and Read program. Reach Out and Read is a pediatric literacy program dedicated to encouraging family literacy activities prior to a child’s entrance into the school system. Its goal is to increase the school-readiness skills of low income preschool children. As the program has expanded, so has the funding needs. This grant establishes a volunteer coordinator position vital to sustaining the structure of the volunteer program, and fosters new relationships with community, volunteer and school organizations.
