Jonathan Finlay, M.B.,Ch.B., FRCP (Lond.), an internationally recognized authority in the management of childhood brain tumors, joins Nationwide Children’s as director of the Neuro-Oncology Program. Most recently, Dr. Finlay served as director of the Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Program at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. He pioneered the treatment of pediatric brain tumors with high-dose chemotherapy and autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation to minimize the negative long-term neurocognitive consequences of radiation therapy. Dr. Finlay has authored or co-authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications and over 80 review articles and book chapters. He has also served on editorial boards of several leading medical journals and as medical director or advisor of numerous national philanthropic childhood cancer organizations, including as founding chair of the Society of Neuro-Oncology’s International Outreach Committee, which aims to facilitate educational and technological improvements in the management of brain tumors in low-income countries.
