Miguel Saps, MD, has joined the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition as director of research for the Motility Center. He is also professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr. Saps is an internationally recognized expert in pediatric motility disorders. Prior to joining Nationwide Children’s, he led the gastrointestinal motility and functional bowel disorders program at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago. In his new role, Dr. Saps will be leading research into functional gastrointestinal disorders including abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and constipation in children. Dr. Saps is an active member of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN) and chairs its International Committee. He is also active with the American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society (ANMS), serving as councilor, and as vice chair of the Clinical Practice, Coding and Billing Committee. In addition, Dr. Saps is a member of the Rome IV Committee that focuses on functional gastrointestinal disorders in children and adolescents.
