Louis I. Bezold, MD, is director of Cardiology Consultative Services for the Heart Center at Nationwide Children’s. Dr. Bezold received his medical degree from the University of Maryland. He completed pediatric training, including an advanced pediatric cardiac imaging fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine (Texas Children’s Hospital). Dr. Bezold served as director of the Pediatric Echocardiography Laboratory at Texas Children’s prior to moving to the University of Kentucky where he held the Jennifer Gill Roberts Professorship in Pediatric Cardiology. At UK he served as director of Noninvasive Pediatric Cardiac Imaging, division chief of Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatrics vice chair, UK HealthCare Enterprise quality director and associate chief medical officer for Kentucky Children’s Hospital. He has longstanding interest in quality initiatives in pediatric cardiology, serving as secretary on the Board of Directors of the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) for echocardiography laboratories and on the IAC Research Committee. His clinical interests include pediatric and fetal echocardiography and management of congenital heart disease. His research interests include quality and value in medical care delivery. Dr. Bezold also has interest in global health outreach, participating in medical missions trips to Kenya, Tanzania and an annual trip to Bolivia for the past 10 years to provide care to children with congenital heart disease.
