Desale Yacob, MD, attending pediatric gastroenterologist at Nationwide Children’s, has recently been named medical director for the Motility Center. As medical director, Dr. Yacob leads a multi-faceted team of pediatric specialists, surgeons and other professionals who diagnose and provide therapeutic interventions for children and young adults affected by severe gastrointestinal motility problems. Dr. Yacob’s research interest is in the area of functional neurogastrointestinal and motility disorders. He is also a member of the Center for Colorectal and Pelvic Reconstruction at Nationwide Children’s. Dr. Yacob, an assistant professor of Clinical Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, is also very active in medical student and resident education. He attended the University of Virginia for both his undergraduate and graduate medical education. After completing his pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia he came to Nationwide Children’s, where he completed his pediatric gastroenterology fellowship. His clinical interests span all areas of pediatric gastroenterology, including motility and functional gastrointestinal disorders.
