Featured Clinic: The Cancer Genetics Clinic — Identifying those with Hereditary Cancer Risk

(From the July 2017 Issue of MedStat)

Nationwide Children’s Hematology/Oncology/BMT team has developed a multidisciplinary clinic that seeks to identify those with increased inherited risk for cancer to provide guidance about prevention, screening and personalized therapy.

This approach allows our Hematology/Oncology/BMT team to do the following:

  • Identify patients at risk for inherited cancer predisposition
  • Develop individualized surveillance and management plans
  • Provide specialized psychosocial consultation to address the family impact of hereditary cancer
  • Offer genetic risk assessment, counseling and testing when appropriate.

The Cancer Genetics Clinic is available on the 3rd and 5th Monday of each month at Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s main campus. Patients can be scheduled through an EPIC order by searching “Cancer Predisposition Clinic.” To speak with a physician from the clinic, call the Physician Direct Connect Line at (614) 355-0221 or (877) 355-0221. To fax a referral directly, send to (614) 722-8826.
