(From the January 2016 Issue of MedStat)
A part of the Neurosciences Center, Nationwide Children’s Headache Clinic is staffed by physicians and/or pediatric nurse practitioners who specialize in headache management. Depending on the child’s age and family interest, patients may also be seen by a clinical psychologist with special expertise in cognitive behavioral therapy and biofeedback/relaxation therapy related to headache treatment. Migraine and tension type headaches are the most commonly seen headaches in children and adolescents. About 10 percent of children and adolescents suffer from migraines. Treatments include evaluating lifestyle issues, non-pharmacologic therapies, naturalistic therapies and prescription medications.
