Facilities are in the planning stages of expanding the off-site Biopathology Center Biorespository at the OSU Science and Technology Campus on Kinnear Rd. This will expand the cancer-specimen storage and distribution capabilities to 4670 square feet from the current 4020 square feet.
There will be renovated new lab space, a new office area with a large conference room, and space for 42 more -80C degree freezers as well as 24 more liquid nitrogen storage freezers.
The Biopathology Center is accredited by the College of American Pathologists. They provide specimen processing, banking and distribution as a Core service for The Research Institute, including projects for the Heart Center, and OPRN (Ohio Perinatal Research Network). They are also the tissue repository for 3 large cancer cooperative groups, the Children’s Oncology Group, the Gynecologic Oncology Group and the SWOG, formally known as the Southwest Oncology Group.
