Dr. Karen White has been named the new chair of the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Institutional Review Board (IRB). Dr. White has been a community member of the NCH IRB since 1996 and is deeply knowledgeable in the area of clinical research and human research subject protection.
Dr. White holds a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth and a BS in Chemistry from Texas Wesleyan University. Karen has over 20 years of experience in various aspects of the clinical research industry. She has worked with both pharmaceutical and medical device companies seeking FDA approvals across numerous therapeutic areas. Her roles have included monitoring of Phase I-IV drug trials, 510K and IDE device studies, project management, coordinating, regulatory compliance, auditing, FDA audit preparation, technical/medical writing, and training seminar development and presentation. She has also served as adjunct faculty in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth.
